Privacy Policy for Paper Maze

Paper Maze is a mobile multiplayer maze racing game. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and how to contact us.

Your Choice Before Online Play

Before Paper Maze creates a guest account or connects to the production server, the app shows a summary of the data processing described below and provides access to this policy. If you choose Agree and continue, the app stores that choice locally and starts the online sign-in flow. If you choose Not now, Paper Maze does not create an account or connect to the game server.

After creating an account, you can withdraw this choice by deleting the account under Settings → Account → Delete player account. Deletion also resets the locally stored privacy choice, so a new account cannot be created until you agree again.

Information We Collect

Paper Maze collects only the information needed to run the game and support multiplayer matches.

Account and Profile Information

• A device-based player identifier used to sign in to the game.
• Your display name.
• Your game profile, including match count, wins, losses, best time, and up to 10 recent match-history entries.
• Language or app settings selected in the app.

Multiplayer and Gameplay Information

• Room codes and match identifiers.
• Lobby status, readiness status, and player connection status.
• Player color marker, position, movement commands, match timer, match result, and basic match history.
• Reconnect state needed to restore an interrupted match.

This information is used to run real-time multiplayer matches and show results to players in the same room.

Technical Information

• Device/network connection metadata required to communicate with the game server.
• Server logs used to diagnose crashes, connection problems, abuse, or gameplay errors.
• Approximate timestamps of requests, matches, and connection events.

Paper Maze does not request precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or SMS access.

How We Use Information

• Create and join multiplayer rooms.
• Run real-time maze races.
• Keep matches fair and server-authoritative.
• Restore matches after short connection interruptions.
• Save basic profile statistics and recent match history.
• Diagnose bugs, crashes, connectivity problems, and abuse.
• Provide support when you contact us.

Sharing Information

Paper Maze does not sell personal information.

Paper Maze may share limited gameplay information with other players in the same match, such as your display name, player marker, ready status, connection status, position, and match result.

The production Nakama game server and database are self-managed on infrastructure provided by Hetzner Online GmbH. Hetzner may process hosting, storage, and network information only as needed to provide and secure that infrastructure.

Any service provider that processes information for Paper Maze must use it only for the contracted service, apply safeguards consistent with this policy and applicable law, and provide the same or an equivalent level of protection. We remain responsible for explaining how information is handled by the service.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the security of the service, or to investigate abuse.

Advertising and Analytics

The current version of Paper Maze does not include third-party advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or in-app purchases.

If this changes, this Privacy Policy, the App Store privacy details, and the Google Play Data Safety information will be updated before release.

Data Retention

Paper Maze keeps your guest account and profile until you delete them. Saved match history is limited to the 10 most recent entries; older entries are replaced as new matches finish. Active match state is held while a match is running and is discarded when the match ends or the server cleans it up.

Operational server logs rotate within bounded storage limits, so their exact retention period varies with server activity. Records isolated for a specific reliability, security, or abuse incident may be kept until that incident is resolved, or longer when required by law.

You can permanently delete your guest account and its associated profile and gameplay data in the app under Settings → Account → Delete player account. You can also submit a request through the Paper Maze account deletion page if you no longer have access to the app.

Children

Paper Maze is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at papermazeapp@gmail.com and we will take appropriate action.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by Paper Maze. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

International Processing

Information may be processed on servers located outside your country or region. By using Paper Maze, you understand that information may be processed where the game backend is hosted.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, backend, legal requirements, or data practices change. The updated version will be posted with a new "Last updated" date.
